A highly successful Genoese entrepreneur in the catering sector, known for his chain Macellaio RC. Born in Genoa, Costa began his adventure in the restaurant business in the small family trattoria bought in 1990 by his father in Via Francesco Rolla.
There he discovered his passion for this job and realised that it would be the career of his life. The turning point came with the opening of the Maxelà restaurant in the centre of Genoa, together with Alessandro Garrone and Marco Pedrelli. From Genoa, Costa expanded his business by opening 12 restaurants in different Italian cities such as Milan, Rome and Turin.
In 2012, on the occasion of the London Olympics, he decided to export his concept of cuisine to the British metropolis. He was successful by being the first to bring Piedmontese Fassona to England, and since 2012 he has opened several restaurants in London. Today Roberto Costa, in addition to being made a knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, has become the president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK and president of Fipe's coordination of Italian Restaurants Abroad.
